Another Bore Fest

I feel like every week is a replay of the week before. I love the show for it’s moments (usually David Cook and now Michael Johns), but it seems like every week is each singer singing the same way as the week before with a new song.

David Archelleta- Sing with emotion, belt out some good notes.
Brooke White- Strip down a song, play an instrument
Jason Castro- Smoke room acoustic performance, look high as a kite
Syeshia- Typical power R&B song, with some huge notes
Kristy Lee Cook- Look great sing awful
Ramiele- Sing a power song without going for it (she seems scared to go for the big notes, or she just does not have it).
Carly- no idea what she is doing, but she is falling in my book.

David Cook and Michael Johns are the only 2 doing something different each week and it shows. It is not the same old thing. I mean remember Blake Lewis last year, I did not love his music, but he made you want to see what he would do next. I think this year they are all scared to take a chance.

Top Performances:

1- Michael Johns- Could lose the Hugh Hefner tie….what a great song and loved the blues beat/style. He is becoming a dark horse.

2- David Cook- Finally gave credit to all the rockers he stole (I mean borrowed from) and did his own arrangement and it worked.

3- David Archelleta- I really think hate is not a strong enough word (or is it jealousy) for how I feel about this kid. I just do not think he is that good and his style of music stinks. The judges and America love him though and he did sing well last night. It is just not my style.

Worst Performances

1- Kristy Lee Cook- How she did not kill on country night just shows how terrible she is. Randy/Paula and Simon should have been eating the cheese out of her crusty feet. Instead she got oh…you were good.

2- Ramiele- She is just terrible. America please let her go.

3- Carly- The entire time she was up there I was thinking, man that is 3 weeks in a row it looks like I dressed her, then Simon makes her practically cry. Her thighs are as big as mine and I am not exactly Kate Moss.

Simon Line of the Night- I must say I need help on this one. Nothing really stood out for me. He did the typical cruise line performance line but other then ripping Carly for the way she dressed, I thought Simon was real cranky last night and not on point with good one liners.

Year They Were Born a Snooze Fest

When Kristy Lee Cook is one of the better performers for a night, you know you are in trouble. The night was a weird night as it seemed like every performer was playing it safe and going back to what got them to this point. Brooke was trying to re-create the smoky piano bar from a couple weeks ago, Castro on the guitar with very little music, Syeshia, AGAIN, with a long drawn out ballad and on down the line.

Top Performances:

1-2 and 3- Michael Johns- To be able to sing any Queen song it is a chore, to do a rock anthem and nail it, he really showed his true talent. He was one of the only risk takers this week and it showed. Hopefully (for my sake) he is back.

4- David Cook- Now, I may get ripped for this, but let take it easy calling this guy Mr. Originality. Every week he is taking the song theme of the week, finding a rock band that took a pop song and made it rock and then singing it in that version. I love the way he is doing it, but he is not Mr. Original. He has found a niche and it will keep him at the top but he is not coming up with all these arrangements.

5- Kristy Lee Cook- Man is she hot……enough said.

How is Ramiele still here? I have not figured out if Kristy Lee Cook is getting the vote or Ramiele is. I mean I felt like going to my room and getting in the fetal position after she was done yelling at me (I mean singing). Holy S, that was one of the worst performances of the season and possibly in AI history.

Simon Line of the Night (I will not go with the obvious animated creatures to Archelletta). It really was not a great line, but I think 30 million watching were thinking the same thing after he said it. Castro gets done and Simon says “Jason you (and some others up there) really need to take this competition more seriously.” Castro looks at him with his just got done smoking 2 bowls of pot from the bong and says “I don’t know why he would say that, I am taking it serious.” He then proceeds to hold up 2 fingers for his number and waves them like he is in the middle of an acid hit and his is starting to trip mannnn. This kid must smoke every night before he gets up there, you have to love it.

I must say though on a side note I like Jason Castro, he is the type you go to a bar in Port Jefferson to eat and he is playing the acoustic guitar playing all your favorites, while you eat some calamari and a burger. He is not an American Idol, but I love that stripped down music.

Chikezi goes home. Should he have gone home, no way Ramiele/Kristy Lee Cook/Syeshia should have gone before him. American did not get it correct. He would not have won, so going home now or in a few weeks does it really matter.

Taco Bell for Jack

Well like I said at the Tower Insurance draft it does not matter how bad your team is you have a chance to get some money back. Jack can now go to Taco Bell and get 2 cheesy gordita cruches and I can join him.

Tower Insurance
David Hernandez $5 winner Jack

Original Pool
David Hernandez $5 winner Steve

Some thoughts about the last 2 nights:

Kristy Lee Cook has support and she will be here for a little while longer. I think she has Sanjaya potential as she is by far the worst person this season and will get all the haters support. We may be looking at her as the 6th person voted out.

LOSE THE PHONE CALL THING!!!! What is this the Jerry Lewis Tele-thon? I am waiting for Seacrest to come on my TV at 3AM drugged up and tired saying show me the board......David Hernandez still voted out. Just awful.

Cross-promotion at it's best/worst....I really hope this promoting fox movies/tv shows is just a one week thing. I like Jim Carrey, but has he lost that crazy guy from living color thing. I think he is just to old to pull that off anymore, he looked like he wanted to do something crazy last night. He just could not pull it off (except for the stupid elephant outfit). Jim oh Jim where are the days of Firemarshall Bill...LET ME SHOW YOU SOMETHING.

American Idol Turned On It’s Head

What a night last night by the top 12 and I have to say if we did a draft today you may be looking at an entire top 6 draft picks. I think Ryan was a little over the top last night and I have no idea why. He was stammering all night like he took all of Paula’s pills. I just did not get his over the top excitement and running around the stage. I hope this is just an opening night energy thing.

I am not a huge look at that stage man, when I go to a concert but holy S that stage was sick. I hate the mosh pit thing and the fans right in front, just not needed. I am not there to see how the front row is reacting to a song.

The best performance of the night was by far Chikizee (or how ever you spell it), I loved the Blue Grass start and then transfer into Rock. He really blew it up and I think he may be a slight dark horse.

David Archuleta, WOW, he completely choked on being the favorite to win and to forget words????? You can not forget words once, let alone 2 times. I like him, but I do not feel as confident as I did a week ago. Can he only sing those power solo songs (like he did with Imagine)? This was one of the first times he tried a faster song and he just choked on it. If he has no variety and can only do slow power solo’s he will not win.

1- Chikizee
2- David Cook- no longer a dark horse, he is a favorite to win
3- Brooke White- wow, powerful song and I think the emotion is real. I usually hate the crying thing, but man I hope Brooke is on when I log on today. I think she is on the Gov’t Spitzer section.

This was possibly the worst performance in American Idol History, Simon stole exactly what I was thinking when he said he felt like she was at a Country Fair. I really can not believe she did that song in that arrangement. I had to look away from my TV, I was embarrassed for her.

Who should go home- Kristy Lee Cook
Who will go home- Kristy Lee Cook (if she is saved by vote for then Ramiele will go home).

Original Pool Teams are set

Bobby with possibly the worst team ever, everyone say Y-E-S, he got the 6th pick and then Chekizie on the way back. Awful. Debbie gets the favorite for the finals and also the favorite for the first voted out, so I have to go with her for the strongest team.

The rest are middle of the road with a slight chance to win. If a rocker wins this year, Jeannie and I have strong contenders, If they go country Michelle has a chance. Geri has the most polished singer, so maybe she will break her 2 year string of being the first person to lose her 2 people. Good Luck to all.

Syesha Mercado

Brooke White
Jason Castro

David Cook
Ramiele Malubay

Michael Johns
David Hernandez

Carly Smithson
Amanda Overmyer

David Archuleta
Kristy Lee Cooke

Prize breakdown as follows:

The Girls are........AWFUL

Just got done watching the girls preform and that was one hour of my life I will not get back.

One note how does anyone watch this show live. I am so tired on one singer sings and lets go to a break. If I did not DVR this it would be torture.

Ryan and Simon spats are classic. Love Simon's Red Carpet line.

Going home: Alexandre Lushington and in a small surprise Amanda Overmeyer. If one of the above are saved Kady Malloy my next choice.

The Boys Are........Alright.

The Best preformance to date:

I did not see the ladies perform (TV malfunction last night, which lead to a 46” flat screen in the living room, so the ladies will look great in HD tonight) yet so this will be half a recap.

Bobby emailed me yesterday and we will have a new drinking game for American Idol.

For every time Randy says “So, check it out” or “check it out” take a sip of your beer. If he does 2 in one review of a performance drink half a beer.

Every time he says Dog poor a little out for the brothers that are not here and then a take a sip.

Time Paula’s rants, if over 1 minute take a sip for every 30 seconds over that 1 minute.

If at any point in the show Paula gets done and you think or say, “you know what she is right” or “you know she really nailed that one”. Immediately call 911 you have alcohol poising and must get your stomach pumped like a baby boy eating birth control pills (LINGERRRR LONGERRRR).

When Simon has a contestant talk back to him, take a drink. If Simon likes a performance take a sip.

Anytime a judge mentions the words pitchy, wrong song choice take a drink.

That should cover it any other additions let me know.

Back to the Show: Well I thought it was a pretty boring show overall. No real male performances jump out except 2. David Hernandez killed it. I did not love his over the top eye brow raising and hand motions little to glamrous for me, but vocally he was on point and really nailed.

David Archelletta continues to amaze. I mean come on possibly one of the most famous John Lennon songs and not an easy song to sing and he blows it out the box dog (pour a little out and take a sip). This kid will be the favorite we are all shocked when he goes home early. I must say in the 4 years I have watched this show this was probably my favorite performance I have seen.

Luke Menard should have had to give in his American Idol card the minute he finished Killer Queen. You sing Freddie Mercury you better practice a lot longer then a week. That is why I liked Michael Johns Bohemian Rhapsody from Hollywood. Freddie is arguable the best Rock voice of all time so the difficulty factor is there.

Thought Simon was a little harsh on Jason Yeager. The entire time I watched it I thought you know what this is not good, but if I was at a wedding and this guy was singing and getting into the song like this, I would do him a solid and get up and do the cabbage patch for him. He is a perfect wedding singer and is not made for American Idol, but there was no need to rip him like that. Thought he was a little over the top, and it looked like he was trying to get him to cry or just lose it.

Going home- Luke Menard and Jason Yeager

Possible vote for worst save: Jason Yeager if that occurs Robbie Carrico is out in first surprise of the year.

Best Ever??????

I have not heard this is the best top 24 we have ever had since well…ummm let me think…oh yeah it was last year at the start of season 6. Enough already with that line Seacrest, it is just not true. How can this be the best when it seems like 4 or 5 of them were not good enough and were cut last season or the season before that? After last nights performances there is no way they can continue to say this is the best group ever….maybe the gayest group ever….I watched the guys last night and then the girls right after and 2-3 of those guys would easily fit in on girl night.
Also did everyone go to the Melinda Doolittle school of niceness? Jason Castro and David Archeleta were taking that I can not believe I am so good thing a little too far it is annoying me already.
Simon was on fire the last 2 nights. He really is the show for me. I said while I was watching it, if he left this show I do not think I would watch anymore. He brings Paula and Randy back to reality (hey Randy enough with the line "I am just keeping it real" when crowd boos). Best line was when Paula said something about doing the show sick or on meds and Simon quietly said something to the effect of well we all know you can perform that way. Classic.

Side note and I will now ruin the show for everyone----Make sure to watch Paula and Simon bang on the desk all night. I was getting so frustrated when they spoke and banged on the desk, I barely heard what they were saying.

My take on last 2 nights:

Best Performances

1- David Archeleta- has been most consistent so far.
2- Asiah Epperson- she is my crush so far this season and enough already about the father. It is an unreal touching story, but time to let performance be the story
3- Jason Castro- liked the guitar playing while singing good stuff.
4- Syeshia Mercado- Most pop type good singer so far
5- Micheal Johns- not sure if Hollywood week Bohemian Rhapsody swayed me but one singer I am rooting for

Worst Performances

1-Danny Noriega- I think my Gaydar hit 11…..(why 10 when we have 11-Spinal tap)
2-Luke Menard- Simon nailed it very forgettable
3- Kristy Lee Cook- Do not care if you are sick step up!
4- Colton Berry- gaydar at at least 8 or 9 on this guy. Oh myyy
5- Garrett Haley- Leif Garret sang better after his accident…I mean right after when he plunged 80 feet off a cliff and could not move.

Going home

Men- Luke Menard and Garrett Haley
Women-Kristy Lee Cook and Amy Davis

Vote for save of the week- Danny Noriega

Uneventful 2 days

I did not love the last 2 shows. Kind of boring and no real laugh out loud moments. Here is a clip of the only guy that really made me laugh. Can you believe he did not have voice training.

Best 2 auditions 2007 so far

I AM YOUR BROTHER, YOUR BEST FRIEND FOREVER!!!! As Bobby said this will be this years William Hung, that song will be released on Itunes, no doubt.

Thanks to Paula for showing those LA Laker Girl moves at the end. She looked great in this audtion.
